We began with thesis statement practice and finished with another vocabulary review Kahoot game.

Students worked in groups to create a Kahoot game to help us review for the trimester exam.

Students began with an activator based on the ending of “The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber”.

After lunch, students revised their research papers, focusing on their internal citations.

Students began with a short writing assignment about the end of “The Ransom of Red Chief”.

Following that, we played the vocabulary game in preparation for tomorrow’s vocabulary quiz.

We started with activators on the types of irony and our vocabulary words.

Following that, we reviewed the sentences and then identified the three types of irony.

Finally, we began to read “The Ransom of Red Chief” to begin our unit on irony.

Our first task was to create and attach the Works Cited page to the research papers before submitting them.

Students received new sets of vocabulary words and we reviewed them.

Next, we began our next story: “The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber”

Students will continue to work on their research papers which are due on Monday. Details on the expectations are posted on their Google Classroom site.

We watched a quick video on how to cite sources within the text using MLA format. After that, students worked on their research papers. I outlined what was due on Monday:

1. Introductory paragraph with thesis statement as last sentence

2. All body paragraphs completed and proofread

3. A conclusion paragraph

We will work on Works Cited page together on Monday.

We began with a brief lesson on blending quotes into research papers.

I continued individual meetings with students as they worked on their research papers.

We opened with a jamboard where students could post questions about the research process.

After that, students worked on the research paper while I met with individuals to check in on their progress.
