We focused on reviewing MLA format for our exam. We played some Quizizz games that were very helpful. We also reviewed the exam format (posted on Google Classroom).
Students began by ranking the stories we did this trimester and justifying their choices.
Following that, students broke into groups to create Kahoot games for each story.
Students began an Actively Learn activity focused on the story “Federigo’s Falcon”.
When they finished, they were able to work on any items they had not completed from past stories.
Students continued to work on their “Ransom of Red Chief” projects. They will be due at the beginning of class tomorrrow.
Students began with two short video activities then used the remainder of the period to work on their projects for “The Ransom of Red Chief”. Projects will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday.
We finished “The Ransom of Red Chief” and discussed the role of situational irony in the ending of the story.
Following that, we played the vocabulary game in preparation for tomorrow’s quiz.
We started with activators on the types of irony and our vocabulary words.
Following that, we reviewed the sentences and then identified the three types of irony.
Finally, we began to read “The Ransom of Red Chief” to begin our unit on irony.
Our first task was to create and attach the Works Cited page to the research papers before submitting them.
Students received new sets of vocabulary words and we reviewed them.
Next, we began our next story: “The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber”
Students will continue to work on their research papers which are due on Monday. Details on the expectations are posted on their Google Classroom site.
